Description & Requirements

Elder Research Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MANTECH international Corporation seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Economist to join our team. This is a remote position.

The Senior Economist will perform regulatory analysis of U.S. Consumer Product Safty Commission (CPSC) proposed rules, create benefit/cost models, competitive and other analyses prepare reports to the commission, perform consumer product market analysis, evaluate financial health of CPSC Data Solutions Services SOW 21 firms, provide expert testimony in court cases involving CPSC regulatory actions and conduct research to improve CPSC benefit/cost estimation methods.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop statistical/regression models that adhere to best practices

  • Conduct thorough and accurate data analyses

  • Provide high-quality regulatory analysis tailored to Commission needs

  • Gather and evaluate large amounts of consumer product and industry data

  • Conduct statistical analyses and apply machine learning to maximize data value

  • Assess limitations and uncertainty in research findings

  • Review and evaluate health and safety interventions

  • Conduct technical interviews with subject matter experts, executives, and government officials

  • Perform primary and secondary research

  • Manage complex analytical projects involving federal regulations

Minimum Qualifications:

Professional Experience

  • 10+ years conducting cost-benefit analysis, regulatory evaluations, and economic analysis

  • 5+ years using best-practice cost estimating frameworks and tools

  • 3+ years reviewing medical expenditure and survey data

  • 3+ years evaluating effectiveness of health/safety interventions

  • 3+ years estimating tangible and non-tangible non-fatal injury effects

  • 3+ years completing technical interviews

  • 1+ year interviewing product industry experts

  • 1+ year reviewing mandatory/voluntary product standards

Technical Skills

  • 3+ years creating economic models using Python and Azure cloud

  • 3+ years advanced MS Excel (arrays, financial, statistical, lookup functions)

  • 2+ years SQL for data manipulation and querying

  • Proficiency in dashboard visualization tools (Power BI or equivalent)

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust

Physical Requirements:

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.”
